Keto and Vegetables

It’s pretty common for the keto-haters to claim that the keto diet is unhealthy because we don’t get enough vegetables. While that can be true, if your not properly doing keto, it shouldn’t be.

When properly done, the keto diet is full of delicious low-carb vegetable dishes like this one. Prove the keto-haters wrong and get all your green veggies in with recipes like this one and these great Keto Kale Crisps.

Dairy Ingredients on Keto or LCHF Diets

It is always important to buy the most natural ingredients possible. In the case of dairy, that is usually organic-grass-fed.

Organic grass-fed beef has many advantages over traditionally raised beef. You can read more about that in this great article.

However, organic grass-fed beef, is usually quite a bit more expensive than traditional meat.

Don’t stress, if organic-grass-fed dairy isn’t in your budget! It’s completely fine. There are plenty of changes toward a healthy diet that you can make room for in the budget.

However, do make sure that you are getting full-fat versions of dairy. The “low-fat” or “less fat” versions are more processed and come with a higher carb count.

When they take the fat out of foods, they usually replace it with carbs which is fine for a high carb low-fat diet. This particular recipe is for a low-carb high-fat or keto diet, which won’t fit into a low-fat diet.

Step 1: Cook Spinach

Prepare the frozen spinach according to the instructions. I always cook it in the microwave. It seems to be the easiest and fastest way.

I usually go ahead and make the cream while the spinach is cooking.

Step 2: Make the “Cream”

In a large bowl, combine the room temperature cream cheese, sour cream and natural ranch seasoning.

Step 3: Add Spinach

Next, I add the cooked and drained spinach to the cream mixture and put it in a small casserole dish. Then, I top it with grated Parmesan cheese.

Step 4: Bake

Finally, I bake the dip for 15-20 minutes at 350.

It doesn’t need to bake too long, just long enough to ensure it’s heated all the way through and the cheese is on top melty and delicious.
